Abstract:
      A parallel multi-step method which is suited for parallel processing for time integration in structural dynamic analysis is presented based on the transputer parallel processing system in PC computer. This method is used to analyze the dynamic response of elastic circular arch. Under rectangular uniformly-distributed pressure, tests show that the 'Speedup' is 3. 05, 'Efficiency' is 76.25% for four transputers. When the half central angle is small, the arch will freely vibrate about the position different from the original static one after the rectangular loading is finished. This is mainly because of geometric nonlinearity.
