Abstract:
In this paper, the Galerkin's method combined Fourier series is applied to analysis of dynamic stability of rectangular orthotropic thick plates with four free edges on in-homogeneous foundation. The edges of plates are subjected to uniformly distributed non-conservative follower forces, the directions of which are controlled in proportions to the rotation angles of the loading edges. The analysis is based on the Ambartsumian plate theory so that the effecct of shear deformation is included. The plate may have both flutter and divergence type instabilities when the forces are non-conservative, although it may have only divergence type instability when the forces are conservative.
