Abstract:
A micromechanical method was used to study the room temperature creep and stress relaxation for metal-matrix composites which the continuous elastic fiber distributed in the elastic-viscoplastic matrix. Present results agree well with the experimental ones. It is shown that the fiber can considerably resist the matrix creep along the axial direction, but not so for transversely and shear deformation. The creep deformation is related to applied stress level and fiber volume fraction.
