Abstract:
In this paper, the Taylor series method is used to analyze a transverely isotropic spherical shell in axi-symmetric bending. Along the radial direction, the displacements of the spherical shell are expanded as Taylor series and each derivative of the displacements is obtained by use of the equilibrium differential equations. The eigen function method is used to sotisfy the spherical surface boundary condtions and the least square technique is used to satisfy the end boundary conditions. The solution of the transversly isotropic spherical shell in axi-symmetric bending provided in this paper is an elasticity solution with ad hoc assumption.
