Abstract:
      The paper transforms the thin plate bending problem from fourth order differential equation into two second order ones and presents a relative generalized variational principle with three kinds of variables. Based on the principle . a new kind of element is suggested. By means of this method, not only is C1 continuity successfully dropped to C0 continuity, but the number of nodal parameters is reduced as well. The accuracy of the element is also satisfying.
