Abstract:
      In this paper Spline Boundary Element Method is employed to analyze circular plates in a nonlinear or nonsmooth contact with a.layered foundation. The theory of that plate (Kirchhoff or Reissner's) and its loading distribution along the radial direction may be arbitrary. There is no limit to the model of foundation, except that its expression of displacement is given in advance under the action of force. This paper regards the reaction of foudation as the external load, and adopts the fundamental solution without the effect of foundation. Some numerical examples are provided to demonstrate that the. method is very effective.
