Abstract:
      The structural boundary is represented by a function cf a series of design variables. Then the structural shape optimal design can be represented as a problem of mathematical programming. Three computational examples of shape optimal designs are solved.The three examples are a polygon plate in tension, a bending cantilever and a hollow gravity dam under hydrostatic and gravitational lead. In the computations, recursive quadratic programming is used for mathematical programming and boundary element method is used for structure analysis. The results have proved to be satisfactory.
