Abstract:
      In this paper a set of stress functions has been proposed, and the boundary collocation method is used to obtain the stress intensity factor (SIF) of a torsional bar with an arbitrary section and a central crack. The examples for the elliptical sections show that the present method has very good accuracy. At the same time, a series of results for the cylindrical, elliptical and rectangular sections are obtained.
