Abstract:
      The Line Spring Model (LSM) is extended to the determination of mixed mode stress intensity factor in the present paper. When linked with the finite element code ADINA, this line spring element can be engaged in the analysis for surface flaws in complicated shell structures, such as spatially intersecting structures like tubular joints. Representative calculations indicate that the present methodology is numerically efficient and satisfies the required accuracy of engineering analysis.
