| This paper presents the advances of research and applications numerical methods of continuum structural shape optimization. Some issues on structural modeling,sensitivity analysis, improvement of optimization algorithms, development of applicable optimization softwares and integration with CAD techniques have been discussed. Approaches employed in a structural optimization package,MCADS,have been introduced. The applications and benefits of structural shape optimization are demonstrated by engineering design examples. |
