| The static problem of elastic thick-walled cylindrical shell taking into account of the effects of transverse shears is discussed in this paper. The basic assumption is that the transverse shear strains are quadratic functions of normal coordinate. By variational principle we obtain a system of differential equations and corresponding boundary conditions. The equations can be merged into a single higher-order equation and its analytical solution is obtained which compares well with corresponding 3-D finite element solution. |
